According to the Ghana Police Service, rapper Samuel Frimpong, also known as Medikal, was arrested after posting a video of himself holding a Ruger 9mm handgun on the popular social media platform Snapchat.
He posted the video in his car in September 2021, for no apparent reason.
According to police, the video went viral on September 26 after being published online by Adom FM.
A month later, on October 21, police acting on intelligence apprehended Medikal and handed him over to the authorities.

According to police, Medikal confessed to the crime in his investigation caution statement.
Following an investigation, he was charged and arraigned on Friday, October 22, 2021.
An Accra court then remanded him to prison for five days.
Medikal’s lawyer argued for bail on Friday, saying his client was a law-abiding citizen with family on standby to meet the bail conditions.
The prosecution, however, objected to the plea, claiming that Medikal’s individual right to bail was subservient to the community’s interest, which should be protected.
The prosecution also argued that because parts of the case are still being investigated, the bail request should be denied.
Following that, the court upheld the prosecution team’s arguments.
